Danny Michel @ The Alex P. Keaton, London, ON

Sadly, I had to go to this show by myself. But it was plenty worth it. In fact, I almost left without paying for my drinks and my ticket! The folks at this pub are really nice and while it was pretty quiet early on, the place was packed by the time Danny took to the stage... or floor as fate would have it.

I'd never been to the Alex P. Keaton before. As it turned out, it was just a small pub that looked like it had been an old house before. Small bar, weird rooms, and NO stage. This would be interesting... so I just plunked myself in a corner table and waited.

Since I'm writing this a while after the fact, I can't remember who it was that opened for Danny, but if I recall correctly, it was just a young guy with a guitar. Nothing particularly memorable about that.

I didn't write down a setlist but it was nice to watch Danny interact with a pretty small intimate crowd and to see them respond. A lot of people were familiar with Perfect and with Invisible Man. And you could tell there were plenty of other more hardcore fans. I was waiting for him to do his cover of No Doubt's Running but unfortunately didn't get to hear that. I did however hear a couple of songs that will be on his new album, including Midnight Train. YAY! And to top the show off, Danny finished with one of those crazy improv raps that he does so well. Can't wait for the next show.
