Jim Cuddy Band, James McKenty and the Spades @ Li'l Big Horn, Cambridge ON

First of all, I'd like to announce a couple of new inductees to the Reemo Cutie Hall O'Fuzzy Feelings. And they would be James McKenty, Winchester Street and Chachi Robichaud, AKA The Spades. Wowee. They totally rawk out and they're sooooo cute, like in that geeky high school kinda way (which is my favourite kind of cute). James totally burns up on the guitar, Winchester is a madman on the drums and Chachi likes to beat his bass into submission... and they all sing. And they're cute. And yeah. How many times do I have to say they're cute?

I will see them again. :)

Jim and the rest of the Cuddy band put on a pretty respectable show, considering they probably haven't played together in nearly half a year (at least by my count... I could be wrong). As far as song selection, there wasn't anything particularly remarkable about the performance, except for Colin improvising Pretty Woman into the line-up during the encore for Anne's birthday as she downed two shots of Jagermeister. :) Other than that though, Jim has such a limited range of songs to choose from... his solo album plus a handful of BR songs. So I mean, it was just like any other JCB show in that regard. And yet it wasn't.

It was fun to watch everyone dance and sing along and have a good time. The Lil Big Horn (WOO DAWGIE!) is a really neat little place. There were tables and chairs everywhere and a dance floor in front of the stage. One of the nice things was that it wasn't so crowded that people had to choose between one or the other. At first everyone stayed clear of the dance floor, but then the band got everyone in a dancin sorta mood and it was all good after that. So back and forth I went, dance floor, table, dance floor, table, like I was at a regular ol' party. And that's really what it was. So it was definitely a change from Stratford over the weekend and left me feeling much better after the show.

Of course, saying hi to Jim afterwards probably helped... kiss on the cheek, half a hug (we always end up shaking hands first... I really need to go for the full on hug next time... hee). I even asked him if he'd seen me on Saturday. K, time for the back story: On Sat at the Stratford show, despite being seated in the balcony, I coulda sworn that Jim looked at me and smiled. Not unusual but still... I even asked Craig, "Did Jim just look at me?" and he's like, "Yeah, he did. He wants you. He thinks you're hot." Craig's mean.

S'anyways... tonight I asked Jim, "Did you see me on Saturday?" and he was like... "Saturday... yeah, you were up in the balcony right?" and I'm like, "YA!" and he said something about looking at me and wondering what the song sounded like from up there. HAHAHA, k, not really the response I was expecting, but what? Was I expecting him to echo Craig's words? Haha... ya right. But apparently, they can see everyone in the Festival Theatre from the stage. So then I told him it sounded good from up there, but that when they went up front for Heart Like Mine, the sound wasn't so good. I then speculated that the stage was designed for ideal sound closer to the middle and not so far upstage where they went. He was like, "Well, then we do it for the visual." And a lovely one at that. So that was it... I said thanks and was on my merry way.

So thumbs up from me... all in all, totally worth the drive and the $32.

I also have to say thank you to Danny Michel for being so cute and shakin his booty to Oliver's Army with me *wink, wink* ;) I believe we have another inductee into the Hall o'Fuzzy Feelings! I didn't get to buy him a drink, but he said he'd be coming back to Stratford in March so I will definitely do that then. :) :) :)
